The Blueprint for Justice

The BC Poverty Reduction Coalition and many dedicated allies fought hard for the introduction of Together BC: British Columbia’s Poverty Reduction Strategy, which finally became a reality in 2018.  However, incremental progress has been made since the plan’s introduction. The COVID-19 pandemic magnified existing inequities, and policy stagnation has failed to meet the urgent need for investment in public well-being. BC needs durable policies to reduce poverty and inequality across the province.

People across British Columbia deserve affordable groceries, accessible transportation, reliable health care, and a stable place to call home.

The BCPRC Blueprint for Justice is based on four principles that shape our recommendations to the provincial government: Economic Security, Universal Basic Services, Equity, and Climate Justice.

A foundation has been laid and progress has been made, but we have only just begun. We have much more to accomplish to ensure that every person in B.C. attains a dignified, decent, and just life. The Blueprint for Justice lays the path towards a poverty-free BC.

Read the plan:

Poverty is a policy choice

The Blueprint for Justice lays a foundation for transformative change across policy areas in British Columbia. It is marks a path towards a day where policy supports everyone rather than elevating some while hindering others.
